The Annona cherimola "Campas" plant is a small tropical tree native to Latin America (Ecuador and Peru) and already cultivated by the Inca peoples in the Andean highlands.The most widespread variety in Italy, it develops as a small tree that can reach about 7 meters in height and has a slow development. It has white-green flowers that bloom gradually during the month of June.It produces fruits 7-12 cm long, green in color, with white and buttery pulp with a sugary taste. Similar to that of pineapple and banana, with a slightly sour taste.The fruits ripen in the months of October – November and are ready for harvesting when their color changes from deep green to light green. After their collection they must be consumed within a few days. In the kitchen they are used for the preparation of ice creams, sorbets, jams and desserts.Keep the soil moist avoiding waterlogging. Use a soft and draining soil, use a universal soil in the pot. Administer granular fertilizer in the spring-summer period.
